#thingsfatpeoplearetold

So, I brought back a Twitter hashtag I've used a couple of times when I want to sarcasticly paraphrase some online anti-fat concern trolling, #thingsfatpeoplearetold. As hash tags are often wont to do, its completely taken off with fat people sharing their experiences with the kind of entitled, everyday trolling fat people experience in their daily lives. And that's honestly what it is. The same kind of obnoxious, privileged trolling we see online is a part of the day to day lives of fat people. Check it out and maybe share your own. I offer my utter and frankly humbled gratitude to everyone who has shared their story. If you want to know what fat activists are fighting, THIS is why. These indignities forced on us with such casual contempt and unearned superiority. THIS is why are fighting for a better world for all of us.

Ummm... the links are coming up saying the page doesn't exist?

They are working for me, but I just tweaked them to take out what seems to be an unnecessary directory from Twitter. Work without being logging in to Twitter, too. If you have problems, they are just a Twitter search for the hashtag #thingsfatpeoplearetold.

I don't have a Twitter account (we just don't get along), but I'll post something on my own blog when I get the chance.

Someone actually told me that because I'm disabled and have some issues with healthist culture, I'm pathetic, worthless, ugly, lazy, and deserve to die.

Here is my anti-fat trope: Fatness is a sign that evolution does not like you.

The whole long litany of pain is so powerful! Will these be compiled somewhere other than Twitter?

I'm working on a review post taking collecting some of the tweets. I already have a 65 page Word Doc once I took out all the Retweets, so they are being saved at least.

joannadw i so hear you. "you wouldn't be so fat if you just joined a gym and exercised."

Sure. When i walk into a gym with clear physical disabilities and weighing 400 lbs what they tell me is, "We can't help someone like you." Even the gyms that are known to scam people into memberships shove me right towards the door.

"Why don't you just take a walk every day?" Well, I dunno, maybe because I can't walk?

"You probably really can walk. If you just tried you'd be thin in no time!" Thank you, Doctor. Which Cracker Jack box did your medical degree come from again?

Seriously. I hate people.

If you check out my new post, it has 70 posts from the first 24 hours of #thingsfatpeoplearetold. Which is admittedly the result me not being about to edit, but is also only 5% of the 1,400 posts made in the first day.
